Babette Pepaj

Founder

Babette Pepaj created BakeSpace.com in 2006 as the Web’s first food-themed social network. What began as a platform to share recipes evolved quickly into a vibrant community where members can also publish (and even sell) digital cookbooks and where brands engage with home cooks on a uniquely peer-to-peer level. Major consumer brands (e.g., KitchenAid, Chobani, Sabra, Driscoll’s) and media companies (Disney, Sony Pictures, Fox Searchlight, Universal, etc.) have partnered with BakeSpace for branded recipe campaigns.

Most recently, BakeSpace introduced BakeBot – the first AI kitchen assistant infused with the experience, wisdom, and warmth of real-life home cooks. More than just a recipe generator, BakeBot answers cooking-related questions, generates recipe images, digitizes handwritten recipe cards and publishes digital cookbooks.

In addition to running BakeSpace, Babette also produced the traveling TECHmunch Food Influencer/Content Creator Conference held in dozens of cities across North America. She has also created large-scale philanthropic events including CupcakeCamp LA and the BakeCamp festival.

Babette has earned numerous accolades for her efforts to make cooking more creative, accessible and fun. Honors include 18 Webby awards and nominations across multiple categories (including Best Community Website and Best Food Website), multiple w3 (Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts) Awards, the “Outstanding Use of New Technology” award from IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) and the PepsiCo Women’s Inspiration Award.

Before launching BakeSpace, Babette worked for more than a decade producing and directing genre-defining reality TV series. The common thread for nearly all her work in television was an exploration of the intriguing lives of ordinary people.

You can find Babette at BakeSpace.com, Linkedin or on Social (@BakeSpace).
